A Touch of Passion A Disgraced Lords Novel The Disgraced Lords Book 3 edition by Bronwen Evans Romance eBooks
Although better than the first two books in the series, A Touch of Passion suffers from some of the same credulity stretching events as the previous two. For example, our heroine, Portia is abducted and sold to a harem. Our hero, Grayson, arrives in Alexandria, Egypt lickety split (2-3 days) from London, England and rescues her in a daring escape. To do that, he had to elicit the help of the English consulate, infiltrate the Sultan’s court, find out where she’s being held prisoner, find a way to communicate his plan to her and then overpower her guard. In. 2-3. Days. The laugh-out-loud moment game when Portia, Grayson and her brother have to escape through the drainage system in the women’s quarters. Grayson tells her she can wear the man’s tunic he stole for her to swim out through the sewer pipes but her drawers will “weigh you down.” It’s silly, improbable stuff like that that makes me nuts.
On the plus side, I did like Portia’s character. She is fairly believable and in this day and age her insistence in being her own person and refusing to sink into the traditional roles for women plays especially well. While I can understand some of Grayson’s motivations, I found him to be a bit of a twat. To Ms. Bronwen’s credit, she did show Grayson’s emotional development in a realistic way and I liked him a bit better at the end.
Bottom line: The pacing was a bit better and the resolution believable. The central mystery plaguing the Libertine Scholars is still not resolved, but I just don’t think I can overcome the very flawed, very average writing to continue.

A Touch of Passion A Disgraced Lords Novel The Disgraced Lords Book 3 edition by Bronwen Evans Romance eBooks Reviews
FINAL DECISION This book had a great premise, but I thought that it eliminated what would have been the most adventurous and exciting parts for a more pedestrian story. It was okay, but I wish we got to see more of the adventure.
THE STORY Lady Portia Flagstaff is kidnapped and sent to a harem by the enemy of her brother and the man she has loved for years, Grayson Devlin, Viscount Blackwood. Grayson comes to rescue her. But Portia is ruined and Grayson is determined to keep his promise to Portia's deceased brother by protecting her and thus marrying her. Portia, on the other hand, has no intention on being married to a man who doesn't love her -- even if he is her dream.
OPINION The description of this book was more exciting than the actual book itself. I read the preview and it was amazing. The scene in the book where Grayson comes to save Portia from the harem is tense and filled with emotion.
Unfortunately, the book itself was not as well developed. Most of the book turns into one endless argument -- Grayson is falling for Portia but fears love and loss. After the two talk this same thing out a dozen times, I just wanted to start skipping to where something new happens in the book.
While the story was perfectly good, I think my disappointment that the book didn't live up to the description colored my experience. I just didn't get the sex and tension between the couple that I wanted.
On the positive side, I enjoyed the continuing mystery in the series and Portia is certainly a heroine who isn't going to be pushed around. I also enjoyed the interaction between the characters in the series. Their relationships are definitely a highlight of the book.
Finally, I really did enjoy the relationship between Portia and Grayson once he stopped being stupid.
WORTH MENTIONING I liked that Portia is physical and strong and willing to be independent.
CONNECTED BOOKS A TOUCH OF PASSION is the third book in the Disgraced Lords series. While this book has a self-contained romance, there is an overarching storyline regarding a villain who is trying to destroy the heroes of the series. I recommend reading the books in order to better experience the overarching mystery.
STAR RATING I give this book 3 stars.
Boring to the extreme.
The young woman, Portia, is self-centered and immature. The love of her life, Grayson, is supposedly a sex god who looks on her as a sister while maintaining a close relationship with her older brother. So he basically feels she's off limits despite his attraction to her.
The problem is her managing to run head-on into one ridiculous and dangerous situation after another regardless of how she endangers others.
It seems all Portia can think about is having sex with Grayson. His sexual prowess precedes him, but his decision to find a stay-at-home wife whose only function is to be respectable and makes babies while he maintains a separate life with a mistress or three, makes Portia an unsuitable choice to wed.
Of course, Portia gets herself sold into a harem as a sex slave and Grayson must rescue her.......he has made a deathbed promise to her brother to protect her.
The entire plot is filled with repetitious boring reminders of Portia's lustful thoughts of Grayson, and his explanation of what his idea of a perfect wife would be.
I couldn't stand Portia. All she does throughout the story is attempt to seduce Grayson regardless of getting him and others into dangerous situations. Grayson is a dolt who is described as sex personified but comes off as staid, boring and suppressed. And the background plot lacks suspense period.
I would pass on this one. Poorly conceived plot and ridiculous characters.
