This book was good but it was definitely longer than necessary. I think that the book could have been cut down by about 200 pages and it still would have been a good novel. The length actually turned me off. I find that most books that are 500+ pages are overly wordy and can be cut down a bit.

The novel follows Tami whose husband is accused of a terrible crime and the person who accuses him is a really good friend. From there the story takes off and you aren't 100% sure what happened. The premise of the story was interesting and had it not been dragged out I think I really would have enjoyed it.

The story was told from three different perspectives which was quite nice. I enjoyed every single perspective it was told from even though one of the people kind of annoyed me.

The novel was written in a reader friendly matter and I was able to breeze through it which was nice. The story did seem to wrap up way nicer than it would have if these events had taken place in real life. However, I still felt the novel was an enjoyable read.

I give this novel 3 out 5 stars. It isn't higher because it just dragged on and I lost interest half way through.

As always Dorothy Koomson sets a beautiful scene, putting you right there in Brighton. I enjoyed how the different characters were constructed and for much of the story the different points of view worked however for the last quarter or so it all became a bit over dramatic. A particular revelation actually made me tut out loud.
Overall though it's not an awful read, it just didn't connect with me as Dorothy K's other books have. I still plan to read her latest book.
A good story. But very drawn out. I had to skip through many pages. About a third is not necessarily needed. I nearly gave up half way through. But it is a good story if you can be bothered.
A friend turned me on to this wonderful writer. My library doesn't have all her books, so they're assisting with a lending library search. I've read 5 of her books so far, and my favorite is Goodnight Beautiful. This woman can put words to the page like no other. I'd never even heard of her before, but I won't stop until I've read all of her books. Can't praise her enough.
This is the first time I have read this author, and I would go back to read more of her books. The plot was intriguing, and brings up a lot of interesting points about betrayal, friendship, and love. I am a murder aficionado, but didn't guess the ending to this book...good deal. Finally, this book I felt was very verbose. It could have been a good bit shorter. All in all, and engaging read
Tamia and her husband Scott have it all, or so it seems on the surface. Tamia has relinquished her successful career and allowed Scott to replace her (in her company) and to displace her in so many ways. She has two gorgeous daughters and two very close friends who are both neighbours of her in suburban Brighton. But all is not so perfect. This is a story of betrayal, selfishness and loyalty. Tamia's life begins to unravel when the police arrive at her home to arrest Scott. From that point the unravelling continues slowly but surely. Nothing is predictable in this story and the reader is engrossed in Tamia's life, her emotions and how she deals with the ugly situation her life has become
The only reason I do not give five stars is the ending. Once we know who did it, once we know what happened to the couple, once we know the other woman is a selfish person the book ends. Otherwise this is an excellent book.
The story of a wife who loves her husband, a husband who loves his wife, parents who love their children, two friendships, one murder and some powerful secrets, is so well written that I ignored everything until I finished it. What a good book!
I waited a month for it to arrive and i read it all in one sitting. I loved it. I felt like I was Tami. I needed Scott to be innocent. I needed everything to go away but the more pages i turned the further my heart dropped. The way she described it all...just hit me so hard. There were parts where i had to sit back and think on what I've just read.Parts that clicked a light bulb on in my head as the realization set in. Maybe its because i could semi relate. I know the dangers of taking care of everyone but yourself. How we see a person as they use to be and not for who they have become. Looking at you partner and not REALLY seeing the present them. Its the part of marriage that is the scariest because the realization of the disconnection creeps up on you. The realization that you and your partner are in the same room but doing different things. I wanted an ending that would magically clear everything up but that wouldn't have been reality.
I've always loved the different narratives. I liked seeing it how different characters are handling the situation. I would have enjoyed a narrative from Scott but i don't think i could stomach his selfish thoughts. Koomson has such a way with words. I've already read it,but i plan on rereading so i can savor the content. This was a page turner, much like her others. THIS gem is a movie and a MUST read.
