I don’t know when I’ve laughed so very hard. I LOVED this book. It was absolutely perfect. Witty, fun, and interesting.

I think my favorite part was the innuendo & sarcasm but then, Victoria Alexander is known for that.

I liked that it was a strong modern woman, who found a way to get happy ending with both people compromising and changing for themselves instead of others. I like the supporting characters and their stories. It went well, not dragging on. It was really quite fun. First time reading this author, but certainly not the last!
Spunky turn of the century American Heiress travels to Paris where she meets a young supposed penniless inventor and they begin to fall in love. At which point, he leaves her because he needs to marry money, and he turns out to be the Earl of Greystone. This she discovers when she returns to London. He's happy now that she's rich. She's furious that he wants to marry her now. Very nice set up for the rest of the story. Loved it. The writing is superb.
Victoria Alexander is an amazing storyteller. I love her books because they don't only have one thing going on. Okay, so the tug of war between two people that love each other and in the end all is well. Fun characters, all very likable but just when other romance novels would end happily ever after, another drama unfolds, and then another. Lots of intrigue and innuendo going on and lots of fun and funny things for all of the characters. Great stories and you feel happy at then end and not left wondering, "Well now so what happened to so and so" and the like. Still, her stories are such fun to read, I'm sorry when I get to the end. Fortunately, she has a lot of series books so you can see what and whose story comes next. Wonderful author. I will keep buying her books as long as she keeps writing such delightful stories. LOVE THEM ALL!
Since this book is being released again I thought it time to write a 5 star review of a book that has been an annual read for me since it first was released. This one would go to the desert isle with me, but isn't it nice with kindle we can swim to the isle with all our books.😉

Cece White sets out to teach a snobby British Lord a lesson and ends up falling deeply in love with a man who is nothing like her imagined snobby Lord; but his Mother is another story.

As Jared pursues Cece his Mother throws stumbling blocks in her path to see if this proud American girl is good enough to be Jared's countess. There are delightful secondary romances and characters and I fell in love with Jared right along with Cece.

This book is a delight from start to finish and do not be surprised to find yourself adding it to your 'comfort' shelf for periodic rereading.
I really liked this book. I thought Cece and Jared were both extremely likable and the chemistry between them was undeniable.

I also liked that they fell in love pretty early in the book and instead of that being the end of their story, it was just the beginning. They had some issues to work out to get their HEA. And what a delightful trip it was.

There are also a lot of equally entertaining secondary characters. Jared's mother was great. Her tests for Cece were priceless.

The banter between Jared and Cece was amusing and very well written. I could totally see these two together. And while I am not a fan of misunderstanding plots - this one was well done and was not dragged on to the point that the reader is irritated. Issues were resolved quickly.

While this book was not as steamy as I usually like, the sexual content and tension where just right for this story.

If I had any complaint, it would be that the epilogue was a bit strange. The whole thing with her sister was out of the blue and seemed out of context. Not bad, just weird.

I would highly recommend this book and pretty much anything Ms Alexander writes. She is a gifted author and never fails to combine the perfect amount of drama, sex and humor into her work.
